The mock trial has proven to be an effective learning tool for preparing for court. Essentially, it is exactly what it sounds like. This practice exercise will simulate a “real” trial. A mock trial will provide you and your legal team with guidance and support as you prepare for the real thing.

Why is a Mock Trial Important?

Too often, attorneys mistakenly believe they have determined the key points and themes of their case that will predict a verdict. If an attorney only decides upon their trial strategy by discussing the major case issues with other attorneys, they could be assuming a judge and jury will understand something that they won’t. 

This is how mock trial consulting can help. When a jury panel consisting of non-attorneys unfamiliar with the law or a specific case listens to the information presented, their views and perceptions are often quite different from those of trained legal professionals. What Happens in a Mock Trial?

As part of the mock trial, your legal team will treat the day just like you would if it were really the day in court. There are mock jurors of lay people listening to your arguments. It’s important to note that it is a bit different from your real trial. For instance, you won’t be dealing with real witnesses who may remember or change things at the last minute. It is a fantastic way to practice for any and all possibilities, though!
