Officer Involved Shooting – Fewell V. California

Weldon Patterson Fewell was shot by California Highway Patrol Officer Martin Sanchez when Sanchez stated that he thought Fewell’s car was going to collide with his cruiser and trap or injure him or others on the road.

It is argued that Officer Sanchez used excessive force against Fewell when he shot his gun 12 times, emptying the clip. His partner, who was within arm’s reach, only shot once.
