On January 4, 2001, 20-year-old Andrew Wiemen was discovered dead in his room at his UC Davis fraternity house. With 29 stab wounds, many considerably fatal, his death was ruled a suicide by authorities after a 13-month investigation. With countless discrepancies in the investigation, a lack of evidence suggesting suicide, and a plethora of questions continuously raised 25 years later, Andrew’s family and friends are still waiting for answers.

Award-winning podcast, “Love & Justice”, hosted by Emmy-award-winning Kyle Olsen, shines a spotlight on this complicated case and asks the questions everyone has been asking: was Andrew’s death really a suicide?

Kyle hosts a variety of different experts on the podcast to comment and talk through their professional opinions and thoughts on Andrew’s case, one of those experts being our very own Scott Roder.

Drawing on decades of experience in forensic reconstruction and evidence analysis, Scott Roder brings an evidence-driven perspective to the discussion surrounding Andrew Wiemen’s death. Throughout his involvement with the Love & Justice podcast, Scott examines the physical evidence, reported circumstances, and investigative questions surrounding the case, considering whether the available evidence supports the conclusions originally reached by authorities. His analysis emphasizes the importance of returning to the physical evidence, identifying inconsistencies, and asking questions that may have been overlooked during the original investigation. More than two decades after Andrew’s death, the case remains a powerful example of why complex death investigations deserve careful, objective review— and why unanswered questions continue to matter to the families and loved ones still searching for clarity.
